Two problems with my first build.....

1) I am getting restarts from the computer while working in windows....

Whenever I click Settings tab in the Display or something similar (Driver properties in Device Manager), the comp reboots.

If there is a BSOD, I can see it coz its goes away too fast...

This comp survived 24 hrs Prime95 Priority 10 just fine .... so I am guessing this is software related? Memory? Help!

Thanks!

Config

Also, the BIOS is latest and Windows XP is SP2.

2) Something else which is weird is just after I login to XP, after a second the My Computer icon is shown on the computer, the display blacks out for a second, and then comes back again.

This happens EVERY restart, and has been happening since installation. I am using Onboard ATI® Radeon XPRESS 200P with a Samsung 15" LCD. Drivers were installed from the mobo CD.

Thanks

P.S. See this thread too, regarding earlier doubts I had about the temps..... Temps displayed CPU 65 Degrees C, but heatsink cool.

Update:

I uninstalled the old ATI drivers, and installed the new ones....

But this time I did NOT install the Catalyst Control Panel.... just the Display and SouthBridge drivers....

The system seems stable now, cant get it to crash

Is that an acceptable solution?

Go into bios and disble automatic reboot so you can see what the BSOD says.

Do you have integrated or a video card? Reinstall all divers if you can with the latest version. if all fails, maybe you have to wipe everything and reinstall windows.

Thanks for replying...

I searched through the BIOS, and could not find any automatic reboot option.... (Award Bios)

I did disable it from windows though...

Also, the video is integrated. Am re installing the drivers now...
