Problems with File Transfer in Yahoo messenger

I had a friend send me some pics from a party we were at to me over Yahoo messenger. At first he would send the file and it would fail. I would not get the uplaod to the temp server message and it seemed like it would hang during the transfer. I then would get the behind firewall message. My friend would them attempt to resend the file, I'd get an error asking should I write over a 0 byte file, I say yes, downloads fine. I view the pic and I'd say within 10 seconds Internet Explorer shuts down and the file is no longer on my desktop.

Any thoughts? I've never seen self-deleting files or jpegs before.
