I max everything and try to play FarCry and as you leave the first building, going outside for the first time, I see black patches all over the ground.

This used to happen with my X850XT as well but I'm not sure why. The XT could run FarCry maxed out so I don't see what could be causing that problem.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Ask Dug777, he's right into Farcry and would probably be able to help you out.

Is the game fully patched? Far Cry couldn't originally run well on SM3.0 cards and looks like a mess unless you patch it.

Why do you need to PM him? The solution is already here: download and install the 1.4 patch.

It's computing 101 to patch your games to the latest versions before you start playing them.

Thanks for the link, I was feeling lazy.

I'm downloading this now at work. I hope it works because I really love FarCry.

Can you believe I still haven't beaten it yet? Am I a lame gamer?

I have a strange problem...

When I start the installer, it gets to the part where you decide where to install it...C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\.....
but that is not where Farcry is installed.

It is at C:\Program Files\Far Cry

So I manually select that folder...
but whether or not I change it...the install goes no further....???

Just so you know, it will fix your problem. I had that problem with the same card.

I would say uninstall the game and reinstall it in the right folder. How did it get there anyway?

I'm at the "Choose Destination Location" screen in the setup and it won't go ANY further when I click "Next".

That doesn't work. The problem is that when I click "Next"...Nothing happens???

Why is that? Are all the patches broken?

I have all the patches: 1.3, 1.31, 1.33, 1.4 & the 1.4 cumulative.

None of them work. They all stop at the same point. Why? :|

I hope this makes sence but the ... has to be another folder, dir.

Are you saying that the patch should NOT be installed in the same directory as the game?

I'm not sure I have not ran the game in a long time. Im just saying if the patch wants to install to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\a\b\c\folder and you renamed the directory to C:\Program Files\Far Cry you would have to point the patch to C:\Program Files\Far Cry\a\b\c\folder to point the patch were to install.

I did all that...It just seems like the patch just simply DOES NOT DO ANYTHING when I click Next.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Ok the only thing I can say is make sure you downloaded the 1.40 cumulative patch [180.6MB] and if you did and it's not working you may want to download it again just to make sure you didn't get a bad download the first time.

Nevermind I missed the post were you said you downloaded all the patches and they all do the same thing. If BFG10K's post don't help I'm at a loss???

If your game came in the 3 cd-s version, none of the patches will work. Only the DVD version allows patches, IFAIK.
