Problems with ethernet card in Win 2K

I recently installed win2k onto my Compaq Presario 1200 XL 110 laptop. Win 2k does not recognize my pcmcia ethernet card. I've tried to use the original driver disk. It is a generic driver disk labelled 10/100Mbps Ethernet Device Drivers Rev:1.2. There is no brand name written on my card but the guy who sold it to me told me that it was by ARK. I went to their site and downloaded the only possible drivers that could work with this card. Neither worked. Because I'm new to Win 2k, I'm wondering if I am just overlooking something simple or if I simply need an updated driver. I don't mind going out and buying a new card but it works great in Win98SE. Seems like a waste of money.

Please help or point me in the direction of any sites that may help me get my card recognized by the OS.

BTW, my card shows up in the device manager. I also see the pcmcia bus services available. There is a re slash through the Network Adapters/ PCMCIA card entry.

Thanks in advance,

you may want to contact compaq and see if they can help you in resolving this issue.
it seems like a simple driver issue. finding the real make of your pcmia ethernet card and d/l the newest win2k drivers should do the trick.
so my advice: find out the make and model of the pcmia card.

If the card is a 3rd party modem compaq will tell you to contact the manufacturer. That's like asking dell to help me find drivers for my scanner I bought two months after purchasing the dell. From the sounds of things, the card did not come with the laptop, because of the generic driver disk, big companies usually use bigger brands.
