Problems with Echo Indigo sound card

I just got my Echo Indigo PCMCIA sound card today. It's supposed to be relatively easy to install, but I'm having problems.
I have a Thinkpad T30, and I followed the installation directions that came with the card. After that didn't work, I deleted the drivers, downloaded the drivers posted on their website, installed it, but same problem.
What happens is when I try to play a song with winamp, it plays the first 10 seconds, then it stops playing, and my sound goes out altogether. I switched the Echo Indigo as the primary sound device both in hardware settings and winamp settings, but no luck.
Anyone have any advice? I think I'm going to return the card.
