Hi,
I am trying to use a Maxtor 120 GB IDE with a super micro P4SBE
motherboard. The motherboard says UDMA 100 and the harddisk
is ATA133. Would that cause any compatibility problems? The
BIOS reports wrong disk dimensions
(58853/16/255) instead of what the docs at Maxtor's site says
(282,216/16/63).
The motherboard details are available at
P4SBE site
Moreover, when I run FreeBSD installer, the installer
complains that (282,216/16/63) is invalid and corrects it
to (14000/... etc). I am not even sure where the FreeBSD
installer picked up (what I assume to be) correct
dimensions.
Is there any 'Serial ATA' / UDMA 133 / UDMA 100' incompatibilities
I need to worry about. The mother board is probably not a cutting
edge one. The BIOS (Award) seems to be up to date though (1.0c)
Bought the harddisk from here
TIA.
Any help is appreciated.
