Ok I'm trying to install DF on a Windows 98 box now and I have a problem. Foldtrajlite.exe won't shut down automatically windows shuts down. So I get an error box saying that foldtrajlite.exe needs to be shut down before Windows can shut down. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Your reward for helping with this will be 4 more pc's added to Team Anandtech DF.:D

I wonder if this might be related to the conagent file in the windows system directory. I know with Seti Driver if you don't change it from warn if active it will do something similar.

This computer used to run SETI so that is already done. There was also another fix for SETI by putting a file called _DEFAULT.pif in the windows directory but that won't work with this either.:disgust:

I've tried it both as a service and not as a service.

People over at Ars:Q tell me that it is becuase the client uploads all completed data before it closes and Windows 98 doesn't give it enough time to do that before it shuts down. Maybe if I turned off the Windows 98 quick power down feature it would have enough time but I haven't tried it. Other than that it would take a hack to the client to have it only upload only when it has completed the full amount of work that it had to do.

I am also told that it doesn't happen on all machines but does seem to happen on all of my machines.

Baldy have you tried dfGUI, it has a setting for autostop client on close. You may have already tried it, but I just saw it and thought it might work.

Yes, I've tried dfGUI and actually I'm the one who told you about it.:p Check your pm history.;)

I've found started the client with dfGUI in Windows 98 and then to test it I shut down dfGUI with that option selected and found that it failed to shut down the client.:( I also tried to shut down the pc while running it with dfGUI with that option selected and it didn't work like that either.

Also like I've said this is a random problem that does not happen on all systems so don't assume that DF won't work with your setup just because it won't work with mine.
