Problems with disappearing tasks in XP Pro

I seem to have whacked out my XP installation, in that I have this small problem. I have some programs, namely D4 (NTP program) and EMIII (Folding@Home monitoring program) that seem to have this issue. When they get iconized or minimized, they disappear. They are still running, because I can see the task in Processes in Task manager. But, I can NOT get them to return. The disappear from the task bar, and from the systray.

Has anyone else seen this, and/or have any clues as to how to fix this. A registry tweak? A bad dll? Any clues?
