Problems with Dell Latitude C610 and onboard LAN

As many others have experienced, WinXP does not see my 3COM 3C920 onboard NIC. I have installed the newest BIOS, have tried tom install it manually etc., didn't work. Seems to be a problem "before" XP, maybe some BIOS issue.

As others have this problem too, can anybody tell me, what i can do about it?

Is it turned on in the bios?

You can't turn it on or off in the BIOS.

Is it listed in the device manager?

Unknown device maybe?

That's the problem, it's not even listed

Must be a jumper if no bios setting to enable it. Because it should at least show up as an unknown device. If no drivers were loaded for it.
