I was going to get the Dell 2410 but then seen a lot of reviews talking about how hard it was to adjust the picture and they still had a green tint to contend with. With that I looked at the 2711 saw only a few reviews on newegg that had good things to say about it but then looked at it on you tube and saw that there were problems with flickering screens, If I pay what it cost to get the dell 2711 I expect to get a quality product.

With the reviews I have seen I am scared to get either one now.
Is there anyone that has had the 2711 that can coment on the quality of it I want to get a monitor that will be the last one I get for many years.

I have only had cheap monitors and was hoping to get a good one with hdmi input IPS preferably

Unless something has changed, dell has a pretty awesome return / replacement policy on it's high end monitors like the two you mentioned. I personally have a 2407 and I have been very happy with it. That being said, it did go back to dell twice for various issues (minor). Their support was always fantastic and they paid 100% of the shipping charges both ways (and cross shipped a replacement both times).

If it's an issue that only turns up in a small percent of monitors, you simply can return it unitl you get one that suits you.

I was going to buy from Newegg there price was better but they have restoking fees for returns, alos no tax from newegg. When you buy a expensive items it helps

Did you check Amazon? I bought my U2410 off Amazon about 18 months ago using some credit card rewards and I think they have a good return policy.

Orderd the Dell 2410 from Amazon, I asked before i ordered and they said there would be no problem if I needed to retun it.

I have a 2410, never had a 'green' tint to deal with. There are a bunch of profiles to choose from and abilities to adjust it as you please. Never had a single problem with the 2410, been a great monitor and I would buy one again in a second!

I've had the u2711 for about 10 months. I've been very satisfied with it. I had to get used to 16x9 ratio instead of 16x10. You can't get full 2560X1440 over the hdmi connection though. You need to use the dvi.

what other questions did you have?

edit: read the rest of the thread. If you decide to return the 2410 and get the 2711 pm any questions you have.

I agree...uploaded the U2410 Colorimeter profile from TFT Central and the display looks great.
16:10 FTW!

Which one have you used? I just tried the standard one, interesting difference. The preset adobe rgb profile I was using on the monitor didn't like it, but going back to standard makes it look more like the RGB profile I was on. I'll try it like this for now, looks pretty decent.

Totally off topic here but...

Amiga 2000 with a 68030? Those were the good ol' days. I had an Amiga 1000 upgraded to a 16MHz 68000! It had the best RAM disk in computer history.

And... In my view, you can never go wrong with Dell in two areas: 1) laptops and 2) monitors. I believe they are consistently the best display manufacturer for almost anything. Two guys at work have 2711s and they love them.

I picked up a 2410 right when it launched, after seeing some of the issues with the HP 2475 firsthand at work, been perfectly happy with it since. Dell also seems to be pretty good about exchanging items if you find an irritating defect. The wide gamut is the first thing many people bring up against the monitor, but loading up a profile is easy, and if you don't need the accuracy or care about it, its just as quick and easy to adjust it manually yourself and find something you'll be satisfied with.
