Problems with CS and screen resolution. Please HELP!!!!

I am running a TNT2 Ultra in my box and when I play CS on win98 the screen size does not fill the size of my 17" monitor. I have uninstalled DX8 and went back to DX7 but that did not help. I have tried every driver I could find and none work properly. I have all the settings in CS to full screen and a resolution of 800 by 600. The weird things is that I never had this problem in Windows 2000. What gives? If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. This is driving me crazy! ARRGH.
 
You have tried adjusting the controls on the monitor haven't you? Quite often, different resolutions won't entirely fill a screen up until you have adjusted you monitor settings. There should be settings where you can stretch the display horizontally and vertically so it fills up your screen.
