Problems with CompactFlash Card from Newegg

First, I want to start off by wishing everyone a happy Christmas Eve, and a safe Christmas.

I recently purchased a CompactFlash Card from newegg, the 128MB one from Mr. Flash. It worked ok, and I took a couple shots of my new speakers. I then placed it into a card reader, and it says the card isn't formatted. How can I fix the card so it works like it should? Should I try and format it to FAT? NTFS? I have another 8MB card, and it works fine in both the camera (Powershot S110) and the reader (SanDisk SDDR-31).

Anyone know why? Hope I figure it out soon, because I'm going to France after Christmas!

This works in my case. For me I have to have the card formatted by the camera. So look under the menu's in the camera and see if there is a format option. I have a Kodack PDC3000 and when I format it, it creates the folder and system stuff needed by the camera. Hope this gives you an idea of what you need to do.

And merry christmas back at ya.

I recently got a 128MB Mr Flash Smart Media from newegg. Great price I must say!😀 Have you tried formatting the card from the camera? My Olympus C3000Z recognized the card and did not require it to be formatted. I did have some problems in the Zio reader I bought, but after formatting in the camera it has been fine.

That's about all I can suggest. My Zio reader will allow me to format a card, but my only options are quick and full. I have no options for the type of file system.

Looks like Schola beat me to it!

Happy Holidays!

Well, I found the format option of my camera, but when I select "OK" it just turns off without doing anything....weird

I'm guessing you're using WinXP. XP has a problem with reading CF cards over 32MB. I have the same problem with my HP 315 camera. When I plug the camera into my XP system it says that the card is empty and needs to be formatted yet I can view the pics on the camera itself. weird. just a bug with xp that needs to be addressed. I thought that this problem only existed if XP was trying to view a card via another piece of hardware (camera, mp3 player, etc) and that have a reader would take care of it. I have yet to buy a reader, but you say that your reader doesn't help this problem. strange. Maybe MS has posted something new in their knowledge database.
