I'm having some problems with a few CD ROM's.

The problem is that they will at best work for like 5-10 minutes, then wont read any CD's, but in most cases they plain refuse from start.

However, it doesnt seem to be a true hardware problem, since I can boot from any of them using both burned CD's as well as originals, no +problems at all, they only stop working once the computers are booted into windows.

This first started happening with my Asus 40x CDROM like 2 weeks ago, so I figured it was simply retirement time for the old 40x, and so I went and bought a 50x to replace it.
The 50x behaves in exactly the same way though, in both mine as well as in a friends comp(two different Asus 50x's).

Both comps have Asus A7V mobos, as well as 50x CDROM's bought at the same time, and both are running Win2K with Sp1 and VIA's 4.28 4 in 1's.
And both are masters on the secondary ATA66 channel.

What really boggles me is that this problem didnt show up until ~2 weeks ago...
