Problems with Cambridge Soundworks Speakers

I have the Cambridge Soundworks FPS1000 (i think) - they're the beige 4.1 speakers (non-digital). I bought them about a year or two ago, and a problem has creeped up. It started about a month or two ago - the rear right speaker no longer puts out clear sound, instead it just crackles when sound is played. I don't think its a problem with that speaker, since both rear speakers play fine when I disconnect the rear speaker input on the subwoofer, so the rear speakers mimic the front two. Is one of the cords dying? If so, which one, and is it possible to get a replacement?

I'm having a similar problem with my Cambridge DTT2200 (5.1 non-digital) speakers too. The front 3 speakers have progressively "died" in producing sound. They all work indivudually fine by themselves because I've tested them individually by plugging them into the two output jacks that still do work (the two surrounds), but when plugged into the front jacks they produce, well, jack. I think its a problem with the quality of the mixer on the sub that puts out the signals. It just degraded overtime.

I'm just assuming that the low-end Cambridge's are just shetty speakers (considering I got a 5.1 system for less than $100). Oh well, I hope to get Klipsch 5.1's soon enough.

I have the exact Cambridge speakers you do, with a similar problem. Are you using the drivers provided by the OS or the ones supplied from Creative? When I installed Creative's drivers, my sound problems went away.

Drivers for the speakers themselves? I wasn't aware that those were made. Checking Creative's site, I can't find any mention of drivers for the speakers themselves (I have updated my sound cards drivers to the latest though).

The amps can go out on the cheaper speaker systems. The problems will get progressively worse until you can't stand it anymore. You may try replacing your wiring, any decent wire should work. Just go down to radio shakc and buy some 18g speaker wire 100 feet is usually about 10 bucks.

Yikes...I meant for your sound card. My similiar problem rectified itself when I downloaded the latest drivers from the sound card manufacturer.
