Problems with Call of Duty 2 - Crashing

After initial installation, and clicking the play single player button, it pops up with an error. Some of the letters are wierd looking in the error message. Clicking ok to both messages and running the program again works, but after 5-10 minutes into the game, the game freezes and locks up my computer. The only way out of it is to press the reset button on my case.

Also note that I cannot uninstall it. The game does not appear in Add/Remove Programs, and clicking "Uninstall" in the Start>All Programs>Activision>Call of Duty 2> Uninstall Call of Duty 2 does not work.

Sorry everyone. It seems to be working fine now.

I went into the registry and deleted everything from Activision and Call of Duty 2, since I can't uninstall it from anywhere else. I deleted the folders in Program Files and Start menu.

Then I reinstalled COD2.

The first time I installed COD2, I chose custom install/setup. That could be where the problem was. This time, I chose Typical. After the installation, I played through the game for over an hour and nothing went wrong.

I played multiplayer and it works fine too.

eh, nothing special about it. Not crazy about the graphics, either. SOund is good though.

yah the sound is great.

Well, I have the same problem again.

It freezes and crashes the entire computer.

I'm just going to uninstall this game.

I don't know what is causing this headache of a problem.

Is my Videocard overheating? How can I test this?
