Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with my computer and trying to get to figure out what is the problem.

Recently I have just bought a new burner (OEM Pioneer 107D 8X). I was backing up some homemade DVDs (around 3 GBs) for my girlfriend. I had 15 to copy so I used alcohol 120 (newest version) to copy on the fly. It was working great and until I got to the 12th disc and the computer would freeze. I reseted the computer and tried again but it would freeze again at 11%. So I made an image of the disc and tried to burn it again but the burning process would freeze again at 15%.

So now I paste the image on to the virtual drive and used nero to burn the disc with Nero 6 ultra edition and on-the-fly. And it burned the disc successfully. Wierd eh?

So does anyone know what is going on here?

BTW, I was buring at 8x on Maxell 4x media. The second time that the computer froze, I was buring at the normal speed of the disc at 4x. I never had a coaster before with my previous drive (Pioneer A06U).

Also, I had around 20 coaster of pricos out of 100 that I have burned with the new burner.

AND ALSO this drive was flashed with a hack firmware so that it will burn at 8x on 4x media.

Please help...I don't want any more coasters...costing me a fortune....aahhhh

Thanks

Try using the Pioneer released BIOS at 4x. If you cannot repeat the problem, guess what.

Edit - And is this only one disc? If so, maybe there is a serious track issue. Look for the other DVD recent thread on which media. Inside is a link that will get you a media verification tool. You can check the disc.
