Problems With BIOS/Motherboard

Hey All -

I built my computer about year ago and have had no problems...until today. Let me lay out my hardware before I get into the issue:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Motherboard - ASUS K8V Deluxe
Video - 9800 Pro
Sound - Audigy
CD/DVDRW
Floppy
7200 RPM Maxtor 80 Gb HDD
1gb of RAM

w/ XP Pro

As I booted my computer this morning I got an error reading that the Fastrak Controller was not connected and that BIOs was not installed (I believe this was always the case for my bootup because I use the VIA raid instead) - the boot up continued to my desktop but as soon as I moved my mouse I got a blue screen error that I did not have enough time to read. I tried restarting multiple times and got the same response.

So I openned up the case and took a look at the motherboard - everything looked like it was hooked up fine - especially from the HDD to the mobo. I checked everything else, closed it up and started it. I got the same fastrak error with the no BIOS installled problem. Now I can access BIOS so I know it's there. It's my opinion that something with my RAID controller has gone hay wire - I do have the VIA Controller drivers on a floppy in case I need them.

Lastly, now when I boot up I cannot even get to Windows - instead I get "Disk read error - hit control alt delete to restart."

It seems that something is wrong with the prelim stages of bootup - ie my BIOS or RAID controller. Can anyone suggest a direction to pursue? You help is greatly appreciated. I am watching this thread closely today so any other questions you have about the nature of my problem can be answered promptly.

It's SATA and yes I have reset the CMOS - I unplugged the battery for about ten minutes, booted the system and chose the "Restore Defaults" option.

It has been suggested that I disable IDE Bus Master in BIOs but when I boot to BIOs I don't see this option, where is it?
