Problems with audigy skipping in MP3

T101

Senior member
I recently purchased a Soundblaster audigy (Bulk) and have installed the latest drivers. In games it works perfectly, but when playing MP3 with Winamp 2.80 it sometimes skips a bit in the mp3 stream. It is quite frustrating. I would appreciate if someone could help me fix this.

You need to find what other stuff is eating your system bandwidth ... like IDE devices not running DMA, other PCI bus hogs like VGA, ISDN and modem cards, things like that.

This is a easy problem to fix. It is not just the Audigy.

Winamp 2.79 and higher default to the DirectSound output plugin. This plugin is historically known to be very buggy. With some hardware/driver combos you will experience skips or winamp may just randomly stop playing the song.

Switching to the WaveOut output plugin fixes it.
