Problems with Audigy, KR7A-Raid, and XP Pro.

I currently have an Abit KR7A-Raid, an Audigy X-Gamer, and Windows XP Pro. I cannot get the Audigy card to work properly with this setup. I can only here the two front speakers, but not the two rear ones. I tried doing the update on the Creative website, but it says that it cannot detect an Audigy card. When I run the Creative Diagnostics, it recognizes that I have an Audigy card installed and all but one of the tests pass. The only one that fails is the SoundFont test.

I have installed the drivers and the card several times. I have installed this card on PCI slots 3 and 6.

I hard this card installed on my last system and it worked fine.

I went to www.viahardware.com and this is what there guide said on this issue:
KR7A-RAID only: Several people are reporting severe problems with the Audigy series of cards and the KR7A(-RAID) when running WindowsXP. Typically the drivers appear unable to install correctly resulting in the card being unrecognised by the system. There is no known solution at present although it should be pointed out that it is possible to get this combination working - I am using this combination on my system without difficulty or any special modifications. However, it is currently not clear what the difference between a working and non-working setup is. There is some evidence that this may be due to a bad batch of Audigy cards as some users have resolved this by replacing the card with another identical one.

I am thinking of replacing my card and my motherboard. Maybe there are other solutions available.

Thanks for you help.

I wonder if installing a previous version of windows(2000,ME,98) and then the drivers, and then upgrading to winXP would work? If you have any other version of windows, try that too.

I don't have Audigy. So, I am not sure if this will work or not. My sound card is SBLive! I also do the following to capture the installation files.

1. Clean your temp folder -- C:\Documents and Settings\[login name]\Local Settings\Temp
[login name] = your win xp nick
2. Run ADGXPDrvUpdate.exe ( I assume this is what you were trying to install ), before clicking exit, do the following:
3. Copy everything inside the temp\crf0\ folder to another folder (Thus, obtaining all the installation files)
4. Try manually install the driver by pointing to the [installation folder]\Drivers\WIN2K_XP

5. If it still doesn't work (and you can't wait for new drivers or creative support)
Run Regedit.exe and look for [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI]
6. Try to find your audigy vendor key. For example:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100]
7. Go back and edit the inf file: \Drivers\WIN2K_XP\wdma_emu.inf to match your vendor key. (Note: this may complicate future installations)
[ControlFlags]
ExcludeFromSelect = PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100
[Creative]
%EMU10K2.DeviceDesc%=EMU10K2_Device,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100
8. Try the installation again, setup.exe or manually install the inf.

I hope this help. Good luck.
