I just installed the above video card in a friend's system. Seems like a decent enough card, but we can't seem to get Unreal Tournament working correctly in any mode(3DGlide/D3D/OpenGL). The card performs flawlessly in all Win98 apps, and is stunning with "Age of Empires II".

Key system specs:

FIC 503+ AT board
AMD K6-2/500@500(no O/C0
128meg Crucial PC100 ram
ATI Radeon 32meg DDR
Win98SE

I've tried completely re-installing UT, and the game either locks up when trying to start a game, or appears to run but no video is displayed. Previous card in the system was a Creative Labs Banshee 16meg card, also AGP, that appears to have been removed properly.

Ideas anyone?

networkman:

Tell your friend I'll trade him my Voodoo5 5500 for his Radeon if things don't work themselves out. Great GLide play and awesome FSAA, so he'll still be able to enjoy UT and Age of Empires II. Let me know. . .:)

ATI is known to have problems with VIA chipset for the AMD motherboards. Go to www.via.com.tw and download the newest 4in1 driver for the motherboard. Hopefully that will fix your problem or you might have to wait for the newer driver for the ATI video card.

just make sure the 4 in 1 driver reinstalls the latest gart, cuz ati drivers end up replacing that and that is what causes the problem, in via boards.

I would never do it if you gave me money :)
btw, you should download latest W98 and W2k drivers for Radeon from rage3d.com
