Hello All,

I am using Asus P5N E-SLI motherboard from past 2 years.

Recently I am experiencing BIOS problems. The System is not booting properly. I get a long beep indicating that it failed to detect RAM. But when i shuffle the RAM for many times, it will start. Not sure the problems is with RAM slots.

Initially I was using Partriot Extreme 2X1 GB RAM (4-4-4-12). I replaced it with Transcend 2GB 800 Mhz RAM. But the problem still persists. Infact it is increasing day by day and I am not able to boot the system properly.

My Config is as follows,

Processor - Core2Duo E4500
Mother Board - Asus P5n E-SLI
RAM - Transcend 800Mhz 2GB
HDD - Seagate 1TB 7200.12 + Seagate 250 GB
Video Card - XFX 8800GT 512 MB Extreme
PSU - Cooler Master 600w Extreme

Kindly suggest.

1) Try removing one stick of RAM and see if you can boot and run normally....
2a) If so, then it may be a bad slot, ..
2b) if not.. then try mounting a single stick of RAM into another acceptable slot.. (you need to see which slots are acceptable for running single sticks for your motherboard)....if you're not sure.. try mounting the single stick in each of the 4 slots until it works... (assuming you have 4 slots)

Make sure the RAM stick is inserted correctly into the slot, and the two clips snap in as you GENTLY insert the ram into the slot...

A single long beep is usually a RAM problem.. but make sure the Video card is seated properly.. as some bios sound out a long beep, followed by successive short beeps for a graphics card problem.....
