I have a P4 2.4 ghz, 533 front side bus.

the mobo says it supports 400, 533, and 800 bus speeds.

the comp doesnt seem to boot, but everythign else is spinning, hdd, cdroms, so there is power to the board.
i dont know why it doesnt want to post..

any help?

List your complete system specs so we the masses may mull over what may or may not be a hardware problem.

specs :

Asus Mobo, P4s800
proc: intel p4 2.4 ghz, 533 frontside, no HT

ram, pc2100 512 crucial
vid card, GeForce 2 Ti
and random network adapter.

i had another mobo, a ecs P4VXASD2+ V5.X.
i got it for free when i bought the proc, want to upgrade to better mobo.. but now it doesnt post or boot. got it from new egg, might just to the RMA stuff and get another..
ASUS says on their website that this board supports P4's with 400, 533, and 800 FSB, so it should work..

help

What power supply is feeding that rig? Do you have your 4-pin secondary power plugged in?

Ok what I would try doing first is unhooking all components from the motherboard and then trying to post. My initial thought was the same as MechBgons: that your power supply isnt doing its job. Process of elimination really, I know it sucks when things dont work as they should, I think everyone here has been in your position at least once. Just take it slow and methodical. If all else fails, RMA that sucker back to Asus.

i have an older power supply on the rig, but it should still work.. cause the ecs board didnt have a 4 pin connector.. but that is worth a try
