Hi everyone, long time since I have posted to AnandTech, but I need some advice.
I received from Amazon a week ago an ASUS A52F-XE4. This laptop has a really good screen and overall I really like it. The problem came when I tried to burn recovery DVDs and had no success. I contacted ASUS customer support and received a reply in less than 4 hours and was instructed to uninstall\install the DVD burner and download updates for the included burning program and recovery disk program. That did not help. I tried to burn a copy of a DVD I had and had no success with that.
ASUS laptops are rated as the most reliable. Could it be that their CD\DVD burners are their Achilles heel? Amazon has issued a return authorization and I have ordered an ASUS A52F-XA5 with a Core i5-480M and 6GB DRAM. I can only hope this unit has a good burner! Does anyone know if ASUS is known for bad burners?
Thanks.
