I've got an acer altos 900 server here.. im having trouble getting it to post. I've got 32x2 edo simms, and a k6-233 .. i've tested the k6 and the ram in another machine and they work fine.. when i power it on, the monitor flickers a bit like its about to post, but the screen stays black.. im using the onboard video, but ive also tried a seperate video card.. the board seems to be getting power, since the cpu heats up .. theres no beeping at all..
I'm thinking maybe the onboard scsi is a problem? I don't have much experience with scsi so I don't know how to set it up .. but theres connectors for it, and there was a scsi cable with a plug on the end (terminator?) .. i've tried plugging it back in but it doesn't help.. I can't seem to find any clear cmos jumpers, either on the board or in the manual.. it's a flashable bios, maybe someone screwed it up? i've never seen a bad flash before so i don't know ..
oh yea, i know some newer motherboards won't boot if theres no cpu fan plugged in .. i don't have any socket 7 fans with the connectors this board uses.. anyone know for sure if it will boot or not without a fan plugged in?
