Problems with an MSI K7T Turbo..

The first problem I have has to do with IDE speed.. Whenever I open large files on my hard drive, the speed is very slow and it even slows down anything else I'm doing. Same thing with my CD-ROM drive. Last night, I was installing Unreal Tournament and I noticed that it was going really slow.. All the sudden the front of the drive exploded and my Unreal Tournament was destroyed. Why are my speeds so slow, and could it have anything to do with the destruction of my CD-ROM drive?

The second problem is with RAID.. How do you disable it? My computer is obviously still trying to use it, even though I'm not using it.. The only IDE slot I'm using right now is IDE1 (I unplugged the CD-ROM and CD-RW from IDE2 when the Cd-ROM drive blew up).

Why don't you put the hd on raid channel. You don't have to configure the hd as raid. I put hd on IDE 3, cdrw on IDE 1 and dvd rom on IDE 2, was working fine.

also, when you install the Via 4-in-1's, you may end up with DMA disabled

go into Device Manager and enable DMA, it makes a HUGE difference (obviously)

now...PM me about the Pro2 mobo dammit!
