figured i'd post it in general, response aint so great in video. something's strange about my geforce 4. if i turn the computer off and then turn it right back on, it won't start. lights come on, fans spin, but it just sits there, doesn't boot up. I clear cmos, try it, nothin. then i drop in an old agp card and it fires right up, turn it off, put in 4400, starts right up again. what's goin on here?

after purchasing an Antec True480 480w powersupply, I have determined that power is NOT the problem with the video card. the video card is firmly seated, and it works perfectly the first time i put it in, but after that, I can't get it to start up. Flashed my bios to the latest version and still nothin.

I think it might be that the card draws too much power from the agp slot. I've seen this before on the Abit KT7A with a Hercules Geforce2 Pro. The card was the problem, they made a revision and it had to be shipped to Hercules and sent back to us.

I'm willing to try anything here ya'll, what do you think could be causing this?

Im am having that problem as I type this, But the video card is a GF4mx440 and an older AOpen ax59pro. It either wont come on at all or spins up and does nothing, I finally got it going with a tnt2 and it seems to be ok but I havent shut down yet. I used the same GF4 card on my kt7 raid with the same case and power supply and I never had a bit of problem.

As for your situation it seems wierd that a motherboard that new wouldnt be able to support the power needs of any high end AGP card.

This probaby doesnt help you at all but thats my two cents lol

Hey chevelle,

Are there any beeps associated with the error? This may be 'cold boot' problem of some KK266 board. Mine does it sometimes as well with a GF2 Pro. I turn on my computer, the fans and HDD spin up, but then it just gives me 3 beeps. I have a Leadtek video card and when this happens, the error LED on the card lights up, so I think it is a problem with the AGP port.

Some people have said that when this error happens to try and hit the reset button, that may get it started. What I found works for me is to shutdown the computer and IMMEDIATELY turn it back on. Don't even wait for the fans to shut down. I know it sounds bad for the computer, but it's always worked for me.

Of course, maybe you're experiencing something different all together, but it's something to try if it happens again.

thanks for the replies guys. weeber - no beeps, and I've tried the reset button, turning it on as soon as i turn it off, and almost every manual fix I can think of.
