Problems with Abit AN8

I bought my Abit AN8 Fatality Nforce 4 Ultra about 6 months ago, I have had a couple of problems with the board. I have two problems which drive me crazy, I have tried everything within my reach to solve them, but Ive had no success.

FEAR: I got very excited about this game and I went out and bought it, that was two months ago... I installed FEAR and when I tried to start it, the game went into a Black screen where the processor is under 99% load, I could easily ctrl + alt + del out of it. My first idea was to re-install FEAR, then change drivers(video, sound, motherboard...), look for any possible windows problem, re-install windows, format and the computer, start from zero... Nothing worked... I started once again, left it on the black screen and after almost 2 hours, the game started!! It worked perfectly, I played for a while, had no problems... I quit the game and tried to start it again and the infinite black screen came up once more (it always works after about 2 hours). Playing with the configuration of the game, i realised that if I disabled the audio, the game would work right away, so I went out to buy the Sound Blaster X-fi, the problem still remains... Can anybody help me with this??

ProTools: I am a musician and I have a home studio, I was very excited about building this computer because it would run protools a lot better than my old Socket A Athlon XP 2500+ system... I installed protools and as soon as I tried to start it, it shuts down my computer...
Again, I tried everything I could... I still havent found a solution.

Abit tells me to do an RMA, but I dont have the original packaging anymore...

don't think that you need it.
Most companies just want the bare board back without the accessories & that's all that you will receive back.

have you tried updating the BIOS etc?
