What do you mean you can't install it on two hard drives? You cannot boot from two separate hard drives in the same machine, only the Channel 1 Master. You could probably install it on one of the drives as Channel 1 Master, then make that drive the slave and the other one the master and install it on that one (by changing the jumpers). I don't see why you'd need to have XP on two drives in the same machine, as you CANNOT boot from two separate drives except with certain third-party software (usually costing $50+ I think).

A dual boot is when you partition one single hard drive into 2+ partitions and put two versions of windows (or the same if you really wanted) on the separate partitions.

I hope this addresses your issue.

So I take it it makes it through the POST (power on self test), until it gets to booting off of a drive/floppy? If so you will need the drivers for the hard drive controllers. Look on the Asus site and dl them and put them on a floppy so that when you are asked you will have them. (it says something about F6 for device/storage controllers).

Good luck

Just to make sure, are you sure you installed the two memory sticks in Bank 1 and Bank 2? On the A7N266-C, Bank 3 cannot except memory chips with two banks (chips on both sides), which is what the Crucial memory is.

I just got an XP1800 and an A7N266-C with 1 512MB of Crucial memory, and I was able to install Windows XP successfully. It would be helpful if you told us where exactly you are running into the problem.

Is this something new in XP? I have no trouble doing it with 98se. jest switch the boot drive in BIOS. hehe. I have no experience with xp, though, so take it easy on me.

I have the same mobo w/ AthlonXP2100+ and I did not have any issues getting WinXP installed. I have 2 60GB Maxtor ATA/100 7200Rpm drives on 1 IDE channel and Creative 12X DVD on the other IDE channel. Also I had posted previously that mine would lock up when issuing a restart or shutdown. I tried the latest Beta Bios 1002.003 and it seems to have fixed my issue so far.

Asus A7N266-C 2100+@1.86Ghz
512MB PC2100 DDR
Nvidia Quadro2 Pro
SBLive 5.1 X-Gamer
CoolerMaster HCC-002

Good Luck with your install.. should work fine - i would check your boot order in the BIOS
