Problems with a VooDoo5: Updated...Problem has been resolved.

Just got this Voodoo 5500 card (gift not purchased) installed w/software and all. The problem is that it doesn't seem to want to allow me to choose any resolution higher than 640x480. Now I've downloaded the newest drivers from whats left of the 3dfx site but still no go. This really sucks because i can't see enough of the screen to enjoy surfin', but anyway ANY help and/or comments would be great, thanks.

Update:
Well it seems that the problem wasn't the card but the monitor. It was being picked up by the OS as a "Generic 640x480" monitor. So there lies the problem. I just went into my property settings for the display and changed the monitor to a SVGA 1024x780. That'll work fine 'til my 950P comes in 😀. THanks for the help guys, really appreciate it!

Well I'm running of an Asus A7V133 board w/ Duron 750. My OS is Win98 SE and my monitor can handle up to 1024 x ?? . I brought this card over from my other system which was a Asus K7V w/ Athlon 600 and it ran fine. Did everything the same, so don't know what else to do. Anything else I need to mention just reply. Thanks...

Your video card should work fine with the drivers. My voodoo 5500 looks great (well, the screen via my v5) in windows 98. Did you uninstall your old drivers first?

Try this:
Unzip/Extract the win98 drivers to a folder (c:\voodoo5, for example).
Right click on desktop --> properties
goto "settings"
click on "advanced"
find display type (i'm on an nt machine right now, it's a little different, so vague instructions here)
click on change
search for new driver (point to the extracted (c:\voodoo5) folder)
restart

I was wondering if your monitor is being recognized properly.
If the computer only shows it as a "Generic" monitor,
it might be limiting your resolution that way?!?!?
😕

Also make sure you removed any old drivers from previous 3Dfx cards or any other cards from your registry. Old pieces of drivers left over may be causing this problem. Hope that helps.
