My moms friend wants me to fix her computer. I have never really spent to much time on Laptops so I am no expert. So any help is greatly appreciated.

When I first looked at the computer the left green light was on below the screen but I couldnt get the monitor to turn on. So I removed the battery to see if it would work using just the AC plugin adapter. When I hit the on switch located on the side near the audio all the lights below the screen go green but when I release they turn off and it wont turn on. So I put the battery back in and now the 2 middle lights are blinking orange. Does this mean its charging? But when I try to turn it on when the power is plugged in and the battery inserted the green lights go on only when I hit the button, when I release it goes back to orange blinking. She said it worked just yesterday.

Its a Sony Vaio pcg f350

those sound like PCcard filler cards (just for shipping and such). The ram should be on the bottom behind some screw secured panel.

have you called Sony?

the orange blinking light when you install the battery indicates a battery problem.
remove the battery & press the button on its side. if you see any flashing red or green leds then the battery is faulty.

The battery does not have a button on it at all. When I press the on button with the battery out, a green light comes on and 2 orange.

Normally could you turn on the laptop while plugged in without the battery?

My 2 (non Sony) laptops are able to be used plugged in without a battery.

both vaios ive had, along with my dads anda few friends from uni, are all able to be run off the mains without the battery in place.

Have a look at vaio-link and see if its got any hints and tips on what to do. I think that at could be european models only but im sure you should be able to find something of use there...

Does that mean that the computer could be screwed? Is there any other reason the computer will not turn on while plugged in to the wall w/o battery? Could the adapter be broken?
