I'm building a computer for a friend with the MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard and a Leadtek WinFast PX6200 video card. I installed everything in and turned on the computer and there was a spark on the motherboard. I turned the power off and saw that the L33 circuit at the bottom of the MoBo was fried.

It sounds like the computer when the power button is pressed, but there is no signal sent to the monitor. I'm not sure if that circuit relates to video or what. I really am at a loss. Any insight/advice is greatly apricaited.

Thanks.
sean.

If a circuit blew on the motherboard..why would you expect it to still work? The motherboard is a gonner, you aren't gonna get it to work..and you are gonna want to find out what caused the problem in the first place before you go ahead and replace it. I suggest setting up outsid of the case first, to eliminate the chance of shorting to the case, which is what I think may have happened. Make sure there are no standoffs out of place, that would be touching the back of the board and shorting it out. You did use standoffs right? What power supply were you using. Avoid using generic PSU's..

Yeah, ouch, my 300w antec has a higher rated 12v rail than that thing..good chance that generic POS is what killed the motherboard.
