Problems with 256MB X800SE AGP and Catalyst 5.7 drivers?

I just did a fresh install of windows XP and the system runs fine until...I install the latest Catalyst drivers.

After the driver install all I see is a bunch of garbage on the screen the POST test information is all displayed correctly but once the Windows splash screen is supposed to be on I see a bunch of random video garbage.

Has anyone seen or heard of a problem with the latest drivers? Since the system runs fine up until the drivers are installed I am assuming that the hardware is OK or could I be missing something here.

Any input is appreciated.
