I have my adsl connection networked to 6 computers in my house. We have a server computer which is connected to an 8 port hub using Windows sharing. My problem is that is programs such as MIRC I cannot send files. Also with AIM the internet chat function does not work. My knowledge on networking stuff is very limited and I thougt yall could help me out.

Thanks

if you're routing all those computers through that one computer, then i assume you only have 1 real IP address. if this is true, then the computers are basically "hiding" behind that one computer connected to the internet....and unfortunately, unless each computer gets it's own IP (which costs extra $), you're gonna be limited in what you can do....file transfers over IRC are a common problem, as well as (in my experience) file transfers over AOL, etc...it's just something you've got to accept usually..

To get those functions to work you've got to have ICS use port forwarding, or port mapping, so it knows what computer gets the required tcp/ip packets. I recently noticed an article in the MS Knowledge Base that describes how to do this with ICS.
