Problems w/ Explorer.exe :o, plz help!

Hello all,

My boss has a pc problem where whenever they click on "my documents" a problem occurs and explorer.exe has to restart itself (the dell system is running WinXp).

If i go into Windows explorer i can peruse my documents
if i have windows explorer open to my documents i can click the "my documents icon" on the desktop and search through there.

If i dont have windows explorer open however, whenever someone clicks my documents (and only my documents) the system experiences a "problem" and explorer.exe restarts. Ideas?
