Just trying to cover all my bases before I actually order a radeon from buy.com but I read somewhere else that if you have v3 drivers installed in your system it is difficult to install the radeon drivers, one went so far as to say you must reblast your whole system? where I have no problem doing this I would rather have it be a last resort and if possible something I wouldnt have to do.

Just wonder if there were any former 3dfx users who are now running radeons and if they had any such problems, thanks

I installed a Radeon for a friend of mie, replacing a V5 5500. I thoroughly searched the registry & deleted all 3DFX references, then deleted the drivers & 3DFX tools. It worked just fine.

I did the upgrade, no big deal. This is from memory, but I think this is what I did. Use add/remove programs to remove 3dfx tools. Do a search on 3dfx, glide. Remove all that are found. Search on opengl, and be sure there are no "special" 3dfx versions lying around. If you have WickedGL installed, uninstall it as well. Getting the Radeon working is no biggie. What you will run into is you games being screwed up. Their config files will be setup to use glide, or minigl or Wickedgl...etc. That was what I ran into. You may want to uninstall/reinstall games to be sure they are set up right.

Actually, on my buddies system we only had to reinstall one or two games. All the rest worked fine by just changing the options settings.

just go into device manager and remove the voodoo drivers. Uninstall the tools shut off and install reboot. Perfect, BTW i had a voodoo3 3000.

I didn't even remove anything. I just downloaded the new radeon drivers, took out the v3, installed the radeon, ran the new drivers, and presto. Took me a while to reconfigure all my games though.
