Problems updating Audigy 2 drivers...

How can this be? The card is properly installed, passes all diagnostics from Creative and sound is normal, with no conflicts in Device Manager.

However, when I want to install the latest drivers from Creative, they say that there's no card installed and quit the installation.

I have found out many moons ago that with SB products, never update the drivers. This had ALWAYS caused me problems and headaches. Of the many SB cards I ever had I just use the stock software.

That's weird. If you really want those drivers you could uninstall the whole thing and reinstall it (which I know is a pain). I use the drivers that come on the CD and they work fine for everything, so I just leave them be. I don't worry about sound card/other PCI device drivers unless it doesn't work without them. The only drivers I really like to keep up to date with are video card drivers, they usually enhance performance or fix noticeable video glitches.

Thats a common sound blaster issue. I went to reinstall a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital soundcard which had the name clearly written right on the card. It had been working just fine thirty minutes earlier before I reformatted and reinstalled Windows, and I did the search by the serial directly listed on the card to find the right webdrivers and it displays "This setup did not find any SoundBlaster Sound cards connected to this system". It's complete BS and I have long since lost the obscure CD-ROM that came with the card two years ago.

SoundBlaster has to have the worst driver support ever, there are some SoundCards they never released any updated drivers for, so in their minds they don't need to have ANY drivers located on the web. Example: My 7.1 SB Live! Card isn't even LISTED on their support site at all due to not having any additional updated drivers other than the ones with the release - I e-mailed Creative to find out what the skinny was on me not being able to obtain drivers for a piece of hardware I purchased from them, and they gave me instructions to PURCHASE a update CD-ROM for $9.99 and informed me that there were no downloaded versions of my drivers. This is utter BS, I should NEVER have to pay for drivers online from a software manufacturer.

Uugh, I just installed the damn thing, I don't want to reinstall everythign again. I guess ll keeo the drivers that came with the CD.

Creative has a bunch of fixes on their site - I'd try to get the auto-update feature to work again, and if it didnt, I'd just do a manual download. I use this feature regularly - just clear your cache/history, disable pop-up blockers and try again.

Here's information on one of the updates:
