problems trying to make my microsoft wireless router secure

I have the mn-700 (or some model number like that) which I bought for $20 at least six months ago.

When I try to make it secure with the option given when I install the router, I can't get the wireless connection working. However, once I reinstall without the security feature, I can get the wireless connection working fine.

I have been using my wireless router unsecured this entire time and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to make it secure without having to reinstall everything?

as far as making it secure you have several options. you can enable mac filtering, enable the option that wireless users must input a key in order to access your network, or you can even disable the broadcasting of your SSID name.

When u setup WEP on the router u have to set it up on ur computer also..
