ok, I moved components from one case to another, and now the thing won't boot at the correct speed.

New box has exact same psu - 300watt moved from old case
same mobo - abit kt7a
same processor - athlon C 1200

diff heatsink
diff vid card

I clear cmos after installing the basics, and it boots up 900 mhrz, which is normal for a first time boot ( 100mhrz x the multiplier, 9). once i change the setting to 1200, it won't boot. in fact, it won't boot at anything but 900, and this is a factory unlocked cpu. if i change it to 850, boots at 900. 1000, boots at 900. thing is, the bios setting is still at whatever i set it to. at 1200 it won't boot.

before you ask, everything has been installed and reinstalled ad nauseam.

help me before i break the kt7a in half.

switched out psu multiple times, all psu's are approved.

guess what. I figured it out. you know that nasty sound a short circuit makes? yea I just heard that sound coming from the case - a POS Dynapower, NEVER BUY DYNAPOWER. seems a rivet was touching the back of the motherboard, and fortunately the motherboard still works. unless you have a microatx board, stay away from dynapower
