problems setting up wireless with vista

I recently bought a computer with hvista premium. I tried installing mynetgearwgt624 v3 router to my road runner internet. Problems arose from the initial set up. The router showed up as a bridge between my modem and the net to start. I was able to get online, it takes you directly to the set up page. I cannot get past the basic settings were it asks if they should pick ip address and dns address etc. No matter what option I choose the page resets. I even tried just going to the ip address to set it up and that times out?? The wierd thing is it gave me wireless but with an incredibly weak and inconsistent signal when I just skipped basic settings and tried to set up my password etc. Any help would be appreciated
