Problems-Screensaver and Win Login

I got this weird problem, Using WinXP pro + Sp2.
It's my screensaver, No matter which one I choose in properties, when I apply and exit, it resets it to "no screensaver". SO I can never have a screensaver running. Instead, After a few minutes, windows goes back to an Idle Login Welcome Screen.

Which brings me to the second issue. I'd like to know how to completely get rid of the Windows Login Welcome page. I'm the only user onthe PC and the administrator. I never had to click on my accounto get in windows. Ever since I did an online windows update I've gotten this windows welcome screen when I start my PC. It used to just go straight into windows. And it's been going to windows login even when the PC is idel for a while. How do I bypass that.

I'd appreaciate it if anyone can tell me how to solve either of these 2 problems.

To get rid of the login screen. Start -> Run -> control userpasswords2

Thanks but that didn't help. I ran that and got USER accounts, which I already fiddled with through the Control panel. But then what? Point is when I restart The PC, I get the logon screen, with only one option, my own account, I dont see the point of the stupid logon screen.
Anywho, I used to get into Windows automatically upon restart, not I get that logon screen in my face (ever since I did the damn windows update), So what gives?

Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
