Ok, so I've bought the Witcher 2, and I'm having problems running it on my laptop at the moment (low FPS even on absolute lowest graphics) and I was told the people here are the ones to ask. I was wondering if someone could suggest what might be the cause of the problems judging from my specs, and whether it's possible to make the game run smoother somehow. I'm relatively new to this technical stuff, so here's a screencap of my specs and of my "result" using the canyourunit.com specs-check. (Which says I should definitely be able to run it)
If you need me to include any other information just let me know:

Specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 Mobile Processor N930 (2GHz) (Quad-core, I think)
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 ("Up to 2175MB HyperMemory")
Memory/Ram: 4GB

I have a feeling it may be my processor, but I'm not really sure how to check. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how heavy this game is on the processor, I do know it uses a good bit of ram so first of all makes sure everything is closed when you run it. Secondly what resolution are you playing on?

you are not alone.
I have a Dell XPS15 2630QM (Sandy Bridge Quad), 6GB, GT525M
Absolute low setting is still unplayable.

I'm on Act 3 now, only slow part for me was in Act 2 when I had a lot of mobs fighting which reduce FPS right down, wait for the patch later today since I hear it increases performance especially with retail version of W2.

This is on my old PC gaming rig btw (AMD 3800+ x2 CPU ,4GB,4870 card) playing @1920x1080 res.

Wow, boy so I feel stupid. I was playing it on highest resolution, and didn't consider that until now because the resolution setting is separate from the general graphics settings. Changed from 1366x768 to 1024x768 and it's running pretty smooth on the lowest graphics (though it does have a black border pillarboxing it on all sides). I'm going to mess around with the settings and see if I can afford to increase resolution slightly. Thanks!

Also, apparently a "Hotfix" for the game is being released soon, which apparently could help with some issues. Would anyone be able to explain what exactly that entails?

Minimum requirements:

Processor: Core 2Duo 2.2 GHz or dual core AMD 2.5 GHz - not met
RAM: 1 GB Windows XP, 2 GB Windows Vista/7 - OK
Graphics: GeForce 8800 512 MB or Radeon (HD3850 512 MB) - not met
HDD Space: 16 GB - OK

The biggest show stopper is your GPU - it has 40 Stream processors. The minimum card, HD3850, has 320 (8 times as much, not to mention memory bandwidth). I think your CPU is just scratching the minimum requirements (it's a quad core, but low clock).

I think you should be happy you can actually select settings that make the game playable :)
