Problems recovering registry file

This is probably something easy, but when I double click on the file and choose to add, or attempt to import it in regedit, I am getting a message that states "cannot import [filename]. Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

How would I close everything?

Otherwise, I have the .reg file that was used for the original change if someone could help me write a .reg file to undo it?

Thanks so much!

I meant to mention that I was hoping to be able to do it another way just because (for my setup) I would need to move it from atop my tv into my office to do so. Hmm... maybe I don't... I'll have to look further into that.

Any other ideas? Thanks btw.

Use System Restore to an earlier date. That will replace the registry with one that worked.
