Problems Overclocking Duron 700

I built my system using the Duron 700. It came unlocked (used magnifying glass and went crosseyed checking). I am using the EPOX mb. I upped the v-core on the mb to 1.75 (I left the multiplier alone) and upped the DRAM clock to 133 mhz in the "advanced chipset features" portion of the bios. I rebooted and checked the vcore in the bios and it still reads 1.52, and nothing else has seemed to change either. I am obviously new to overclocking, and was wondering if I missed something or did something wrong. I would greatly appreciate some help. Oh yeah, and I read AanTech's lates article on overclocking as well as others, and apparently still don't get it. Please help.

You need to change the clock multiplier to get a higher freq. For example, your 700 you get that with a clock multiplyer of 7 and a bus speed of 100(7 x 100=700Mhz). Try 8, 9, maybe 10. Allthough I did notice that you have the 8KTA+, I'm not sure if this board has a multiplyer adjust.

I thought that by leaving the multiplier alone and upping the FSB to 133 (7 x 133) i could reach 933 mhz? Maybe I should just up the multiplier (the Epox 8kta+ has switches to do so)and not mess with the FSB, if indeed I changed the right option in my BIOS lol.

You increased the timing on the memory...not the FSB. FSB overclocking on AMD processors is not easy to do. You will need to do multiplier adjustments. The Vcore is something to be carefull with. You gave it too much. I probably just reset itself.

It appears you are new to this. I HIGHLY SUGGEST you stop thinking about overclocking for a few weeks and read every thread in these forums on AMD overclocking until you understand the basics, and read some BIOS info pages to know how to tweek everything (and read the MB manual...no, really)....Don't rush into it and fry your processor....RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! I spent months researching before I tried it....and it is so much easier now that I know how to do it!

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you for your comment. Although it may not seem like it, I have spent months researching this and am partially blind from reading every thread in here, as well as my mb manual. I am just trying to find a place to start.

that's great...start with the mulitplier...
my tbird doesn't do well with oc'ing fsb..
(i can't even go to 102 without 101% stability, which is what i want) ...
make sure you don't jump the vcore too high...
make sure you have good cooling and air flow...
