I got it oc'd to 2800XP but my ram would hold it (166Mhz). Today I have bought 1Gb pc3200 memory and the computer won't boot at 11x200 or 166x12,5 and 120% Ram (200Mhz). The core is running 1,75V and memory 2,8. In the best case (with one stick) I pass post but then Windows won't start.
Any ideas?

Running in A7n8X Deluxe 2.0 board.

A voice says "system failed memory xxxx (something like chaf??)"

May it be my cheapo 400W PSU?? 5.0V--->4.85
3.3V--->3.20
12.0V--->12.54

well first we need to know what CPU you bought.
did you get an axp 2500?

stick in your pc3200, take everything in bios back to defaults, then raise the fsb to 200.
you may even be giving your cpu too much voltage. try at 1.65 and then start raising from there.

it's not likely the PSU.

That didn't work. The ram is some cheapo (elixir), but yesterday I tried with some Kingston value and it din't work neither.

I am assuming your 2500+ is unlocked. Try the old ram that worked at 12.5x166 and try 13x166, and 13.5x166. Then try your DDR3200 at 10x200, and then 10.5x200 followed by 11x200. This will indicate if its a ram issue or if its your CPU that will not run at 2200mhz. Again I am going to assume that you bought 2 sticks of DDR3200, if so, then first try with one, and then the other. Remember to test each step for stability.

I can't go 13 in the multiplier as it is unloked only till 12.5. With the PC3200 it won't even boot at bios default settings, either using only one stick or 2. Could it be a compatibility issue?

What PSU are using? and how much stuff is it running (6 fans, lights, 2 hd's, 2 cd's)? what voltage are your rails showing (+5,-5,+12,-12,+3.3)? I assume you tried lower timing on the Ram (3,4,4,8). Some cheap DDR3200 wont even run CAS2 at 133. Even Kingston Value ram is cas 2.5 memory.

My PSU is a cheapo 400W (wich I'm going to replace with a TT soon). It has one neon, one HD, 2 CD/DVD drives, 7 fans, 9700Pro and nothing else. I think it must be that or a compatibility issue. Timings are SPD default. Voltages are in the first post.

5V and 3.3V rails seem a bit too low.

Crank up the vcore and vDIMM all the way to see if it stabilizes, keep the timings relaxed and set them manually if the board allows it, make certain memory is@100% and if there's vdd voltage adjustment bump it too.

I have also tried it. This is very strange. The voice says "system failed memory xxxx ", but i can't understand the last word.

The Asus reporter should say failed memory test.

well since you've tried different memory, different timings, cranked voltages, lowered multi's, and troubleshot it 7 ways to Sunday, I'd say flash the latest bios or uberbios if there's on for your board, and if that doesn't work, beg or borrow some serious 3200DDR like XMS or HyperX. If it still doesn't want to do 400DDR ram speeds then RMA that defective bastage :D

I did all that except prove High quality mem hehehehhe. I'll see if I can borrow some. Thanks for the reply :beer:

No problemo :) Hope it turns out it's just the ram as RMAing blows goats! and no way would I live with a board that can't handle 400DDR ram speed.

If it is the MoBo then I think I'll just keep it with DDR333.... damn, I hope it isn't.
