This came as quite a suprise to me, and I have still been unable to fix my problem. I got in on the nice ARIOA 1600XP about 5-6 months ago. I paired it with an EpoX 8K3A+ and some Corsair XMS 3200 DDR RAM. First thing I did was up the FSB to 166, and everything ran fine, including temps. I couldnt go above 168 though without lockups, so back down to 166 I went. I was happy there for quite some time (no instability whatsoever), until I threw in an Adaptec 2400A RAID controller. It just wouldnt play nice with my system. After running Sisoft Sandra, it reported my PCI at 42Mhz, so it looks like the 1/5 divider on the Epox board never kicked in. What suprised me most about this was that I was able to run stable for so long at 42Mhz, until I added the Adaptec card that didnt like those speeds.

The problem is that I cant seem to get the 1/5 divider working at all, which means im running stock with my ARIOA (!!!). Is there some BIOS setting that I have missed somewhere? Is there a jumper? Anyone have a clue?

theres somehting fishy....
8k3a (+) was an awesoe board for overclocking, and there (imo) has to be a 1/5 ratio (it was a kt333 board afterall i think..)

is it the new version of sandra??

I will try a newer version of Sandra, and see if that is it. If the older version is misreading it, that would explain why I could "run" at 42Mhz PCI.

Sandra is not reading it correctly. And in the BIOS it will tell you what speed the AGP and PCI arre runnig at. But believe me, the 1/5 divider is there.

Exactly, hell I tried it on the Gigabyte 7vrxp, and it blew windows up :). On the 8k3a+ it automatically kicks in. Try increasing the PCI latency a bit. It really doesn't affect the speed of any of your PCI cards, but could definitely help.
