I'm trying to network winME and Win 2k, but am having problems finding the correct Protocols/settings to get them to talk.
Ihave on my ME machine:
CLIENTS FORMS NETWORKS
DIAL UP ADAPTER
MY NIC
TCP DIAL UP
TCP PROTOCOL FOR MY NIC
FILE & PRINT SHARING

CLIENTS FOR MS NETWORKS

and file and print sharing options checked.

Sometime this allows me to access my Win2k machine from my ME machine (and visa versa) , but when I try to open a shared file, it rejects, my network password.
I can't set, or change this network password and it pisses me off.

What I really want to do is perform a network remote installation(upgrade) of Win2k over WinME unattended, but I can't get ME to talk to my i386 folder on my distribution server.
Can any SYSADMIN type experts out there help me please. I would love to get this happening.
Thanks.

There are a lot of people who ask this question on this forum. If you are going to have Win2k, then you are going to have to deal with the enhanced security that comes with it.

Set up a username and password on the 2000 box that matches the screen login name of the WinME box OR enable the guest account.

Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out.

EDIT: Once I figured out where to enable the guest account, all my problems were over, thanks Nightfall!
