i hooked a crossover cable to computer #1 (sony vaio laptop) w/ windows Me on it. I put a splitter on the end of the cable and hooked it to a regular ethernet cable. I hooked the end of that ethernet cable into the desktop computer (HPpavillion) also w/ windows Me. I set both computers to the same workgroup and shared the drives i wanted.
On computer #1 (the vaio laptop) i cannot see the hppav. BUT on the HPPAV i can't even log into the network. IT tells me that i can't gain access to the network. Can someone help me w/ this plz? do i need a hub?
