I bought an ABIT KT7A earlier today along with 256MB PC133 and an Athlon 1200C .. I set it all up and it worked pretty fine .. Then I reinstalled windows, and started getting some crashes.. It just kept getting worse. Now it doesn't even post. I've taken everything out but the video (ASUS v7100, Geforce 2MX) and tried replacing the ram with a 128MB PC133 stick I know works .. Still nothing .. I got a 'bios not found' (can't remember the exact wording) error once, but that went away with a cold boot .. Any ideas? I've got all night to mess with this thing .. -sigh-

Incidentally, the ps is 300w. The fan is a chrome orb (I tried replacing that too, since the original was a bit .. noisy..)

HI- have you tried clearing the CMOS and make sure cpu fan is pluged into fan header 1. I have the same M/B and Graphics card as you i had problems whith IRQs shareing. Computer would not post i had to dissable comm ports in bios to free IRQs hope this helps macca 🙂

the abit mobo bios has a cpu fan detection failsafe. specifically, in bios section pc health i think, you'll see a setting for cpu fan operation....this setting is by default set enabled on earlier bios; latest bios (ZT) has it default set to disabled.....this could be trapping you. >>>1. make sure cpu fan is functional. 2. make sure the cpu fan is connected to fan plug #1 if you enable the bios fan failsafe.

Thanks for the replies.. Yes, I tried clearing the cmos several times, and I doubt it was IRQs since I took everything else out (and disconnected the drives) .. For some reason it's now decided to boot ..

Also, can anyone recommend a good heatsink/fan for this? Keeping in mind the capacitors that are right beside the socket.. (I've heard super orbs dont fit very easily) .. I guess a chrome orb works fine for 750 and 1ghz boxen, but not 1200 😛
