I'm having a problem keeping my system cool enough to play any PC game for over 20 mintues give or take or also when I am decoding and re-encoding DVDs. The reason I know this is because I have Intel Active Monitor installed and I get a loud beeping and error message that my processor zone is getting to hot and out of the "safe" zone. My current temps are: Processor 115; Zone 1 100; Zone 2 108 all Fahrenheit, and my Fans are running about 3465; 1448; and 2107. Here is my system specs: P4 3 Gig (with intel heatsink), 512 memory in dual channel, ATI Radeon 9800, Intel motherboard, 2 120mm fans on in the front, one in the back, an Antec 350 w p/s, and an Antec case. I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions to getting my system cooler, espically so I can play Doom 3 with no probelms. Would replacing the intel heatsink help? I'm open to suggestions.

115f is only 46C, I am not an intel person, but that doesnt seem that bad... maybe just up the 'safe zone' temp

I'm sorry maybe I wasn't to specific in my post, that is my current temp, it starts to warn me when it exceeds 122 F or 50 C. I'm not sure on the exact temp it was when I was gaming and the waring came up, though I guess I could try again so I could get the exact temp. I just didn't want to end up screwing up my processor b/c of heat.

First of all you should replace the thermal pad that the stock Intel HSF uses and put on some Arctic Silver 5 that sould take down the temps a few degrees right off the bat. You can get a small tube of it from Fry's or most online stores. If the temps are still high try leaving the side panel off. An upgrade of the stock HSF to something like this would really get your temps down and the Zalman 7000aclu is much quieter then the stock HSF. Good luck

Thanks for the advice jdiddy. Is there any percautions I should take when removing the thermal pad from the P4? If I remember currectly it was sort of sticky, what's best to remove it?
