Problems installing windows XP

Hi everyone, I'm building a computer for a friend, but I'm having trouble installing Windows XP Pro SP2.

The disk I am using to install is a genuine OEM copy of Windows XP Pro SP2. I put the CD into the disk drive and it boots fine. The installation seems like it's going fine through the reformatting and copying files part (the parts with a blue background, yellow bars, and BIOS like text).

The problems start after reformatting and file copying are completed. Usually after the computer restarts after reformatting, it goes straight to the screen with 5 bullets on the side that say "preparing installation, installing windows, finalizing installation, etc" and displays the time remaining. This time, after rebooting, I see the regular bootup screen with the Windows XP logo and the blue bar moving.

After that it goes to the install screen with the 5 bullets on the side, but after configuring time, keyboard, language, network settings and entering the CD key, I get this pop up that says "Files Needed. Some files on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD are needed. Insert Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD into the drive selected below, and then click OK." It also gives me a small drop down box at the bottom to select where to copy these "files" from. WTF? The CD is already in the drive!

It won't let me click OK, so I click cancel. The box pops again near the end of the installation. I hit cancel again. It finishes installing and reboots, but instead of going to the black screen that prompts me to adjust the resolution to fit my monitor or the screen that allows me to set up user accounts, security center settings, and register the software, it just goes straight to the login screen. I have never seen this before!

The default username is "administrator" because I never got to add any user accounts. When I log in, the desktop is stripped down. The taskbar and start menu are classic windows theme and everything looks weird. When I restart the computer, it's like the computer goes through the install process again because at the login screen it says "applying computer settings..."

I really need help. I don't know what's wrong! I already tried two windows XP pro SP2 CD's and swapped the motherboard with no luck.

Here are some pictures of what I am talking about:

Please help me out. Thanks!

I haven't heard about such installation. I think you need a fresh XP-CD or CD-Drive. I always confront blue screen in case of failures.
